JGS Lifecare to honor Paul Cohen and all major donors during annual meeting on May 22 in Longmeadow
JGS Lifecare, a leading health care system serving seniors and their families, will honor former Longmeadow resident Paul Cohen and all major donors to Phase I of their Project Transformation campaign during their annual meeting on Tuesday, May 22.
“We are excited to celebrate the donors who made possible the completion of Phase I of Project Transformation, our campaign to de-institutionalize the delivery of health care to our elders through the adoption of the small house model of care known as the Green House model,” said Susan Kimball Halpern, vice president, philanthropy, JGS Lifecare.
Phase I of Project Transformation included renovations to Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence, and redefined short-term rehabilitation through the design and construction of the Sosin Center for Rehabilitation on the JGS Lifecare campus.
“The small house design helps people thrive in spaces that feel like home,” said Halpern. “Residents actively participate in their own care and treatment, benefitting from personalized care from well-trained professionals, resulting in better health outcomes, more interaction between staff and residents, increased social engagement and improved quality of life.”
A special presentation will be made to Paul Cohen, co-founder and chief financial officer for Planned Furniture Promotion, for his leadership support. Cohen provided an irrevocable $1 million bequest to initiate Phase II of Project Transformation, which will bring the small house model of Green House care residents of the Leavitt Gamily Jewish Home. The meeting will also include the unveiling of four new donor walls.
“The beautiful new recognition walls will help us express our gratitude to those who embraced our vision and helped make it a reality, and will provide a lasting testament to their legacy of caring for our elders,” said Halpern.
The annual meeting will be held in the Gloth Family Auditorium at JGS Lifecare, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow. A preceding cocktail hour will be held in Michael’s Café at that same location.
