Music Key to Tuning in Lost Memories

Our Music & Memory Program uses digital music and personalized playlists to improve the quality of life for people with memory impairments.

Rooted in extensive neuroscience research, our Music & Memory program couples modern technology with the therapeutic benefit of music. Music triggers memories that can help lower resistance to care, alleviate agitation and increase socialization.

Participants often sing along, dance, socialize and talk more after listening to their playlist, which enables them to feel more like themselves. Staff, residents and family experience deeper relationships and benefit from a calmer, more supportive social environment.

Over 700 skilled nursing facilities across the country use the music therapy program. JGS Lifecare is one of just two western Massachusetts elder care facilities certified as a provider of the program.
