What’s Happening at Leavitt Family Jewish Home

May is always a busy time and this year is no exception. As we celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week, Lola White, RN at the Leavitt Family Jewish Home, took some time for a special conversation with JNH resident Patricia Ouimette, a former RN.  Patricia knew she wanted to be a nurse at the age of 18, and actually enjoyed being a nurse for 40 years, working at Western Mass Hospital, Palmer Nursing Home and the VNA.  “My favorite part about being a nurse was helping people,” shared Patricia.  She loves people and still wants to help others.  We offer our deepest appreciation to Lola and Patricia, and to all of our nursing staff who chose a career of caring for others at their time of need!

As the pandemic restrictions ease, residents were thrilled to enjoy an evening of entertainment featuring beloved singer and performer Jimmy Mazz on the Michael’s Café patio  A good time was had by all.

Home-cooked food abounds at JGS and what could be better than freshly-made donuts? Residents and staff loved the smell, and of course the taste, of these mouthwatering treats. For Mother’s Day, our residents celebrated with delicious cupcakes decorated like spring flowers! It was a sweet treat that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.
