What’s Happening at JGS

The month has been a busy one! Residents enjoyed making homemade mini donuts, using actual donut makers. It was fun for them to watch the process and, of course, enjoy eating the yummy donuts. Our Life Enrichment staff continued to visit residents in their rooms, delivering treats such as hot buttered popcorn, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.

On Valentine’s Day, assorted cookies and beverages were served. Hallway Bingo, where residents stay in their doorways and play Bingo for quarters and chocolate bars, is another popular activity.

In observance of Ash Wednesday, Father CJ from St. Mary’s Parish visited and offered ashes to residents. Purim is also a festive time for our residents. Our Life Enrichment staff passed out hamantaschen cookies, along with the story of Purim and Purim coloring pages with crayons. A “St. Patrick’s Day Cupcake Cart” is planned for St. Patrick’s Day! And later in March, we will bring a “Girl Scout Cookie Cart” to each resident’s rooms, delivering the iconic– and delicious –cookies.

Passover begins on the evening of March 27th. The traditional Passover Seder dinner will be served to residents in their rooms, and traditional baked goods will be served throughout the week of Passover.

All in all, we are keeping our residents happy and engaged, despite the restrictions of the pandemic. Our residents and staff are the very best!
