Susan and Richard Halpern are Grandparents for the First Time!

Susan Kimball Halpern, Vice President of Development & Communications and her husband Richard are thrilled to share news of the birth of their first grandchild, Hannah Taylor Smith! Parents Lauren and Kyle Smith welcomed their daughter to the world on Sunday October 3rd, weighing in at 7 lbs 14 oz and measuring 20 inches. The family couldn’t be more excited!
Hannah Taylor’s name pays tribute and loving remembrance to relatives on both sides of the Halpern/Smith families. Hannah Kimball, great-great grandmother of Lauren on Susan’s father, Jerry Kimball’s, side of the family, was one of the founders of JGS Lifecare back in 1912 when it was established as the Daughters of Zion Home for the Aged. The H for Hannah also honors Lauren’s late grandfather, Herbert Halpern, Richard’s father. On the Smith side, Hannah is a name dating back to the early 1700’s on Kyle’s father, Norm Smith’s, side of the family. In 1719 Hannah Towne married Benjamin Taylor, early ancestors to the Smith lineage.
Lauren is the Marketing Director at the architectural design firm, Carpenter & MacNeille and Kyle is an Assistant Coach of UMass Lacrosse.
Congratulations to all!
