Springtime Blooms and Resident Smiles at JGS Lifecare

Winter’s chill gave way to the warm embrace of spring, transforming the JGS Lifecare campus into a vibrant hub of activity. Flourishing flowers weren’t the only things blooming – our residents enjoyed a variety of engaging events and meaningful connections.

April Showers Bring Smiles and Sunshine

The first glimpse of sunshine brought our residents outdoors, eager to soak up the warmth and witness the season’s first buds. What better way to celebrate than with refreshing popsicles? The shared joy and warm smiles were a testament to the simple pleasures that brighten our residents’ days.

Spring Holidays: A Time for Family and Tradition

The spirit of togetherness filled the air as residents and families gathered for Passover Seders, recounting the story of liberation, and for Easter services, embracing the joy of renewal.

May Blossoms and Memories Made

The campus blossomed with vibrant perennials, mirroring the connections between residents and families during outdoor visits. Residents enjoyed planting activities within our raised garden beds, nurturing a sense of accomplishment and pride. A heartwarming moment unfolded when Victoria Lynch, RN, our Assistant Director of Nursing, was cheered on by everyone as she rescued a displaced baby bird. It was a reminder of the compassion and care that defines our community.

Celebrating the Hearts of Gold: Our Volunteer Appreciation

A heartfelt “thank you” goes to our dedicated volunteers who were treated to a special BBQ in recognition of their invaluable service. From staffing our coffee and gift shops to assisting with resident transport, reading companionship, and garden planting, their contributions enrich the lives of our residents in countless ways. Deann Hollis eloquently captured their spirit: “The heart of a Volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” Our volunteers truly embody this sentiment.

Sweet Serenades and Special Days

Mother’s Day was a day of sweet indulgence with a special concert by performer Irving Lewis, serenading residents with beloved oldies. Delicious pastries from La Fiorentina and beautiful red roses added a touch of elegance to the celebration. As we honor our mothers, we recognize their unwavering love.

Father’s Day also brought smiles and cheers with a pizza party featuring everyone’s favorite – O’Doul’s beer! The celebratory atmosphere honored fathers. We cherish our fathers and the special bond they share with their families.

Monthly Veteran Gatherings: A Celebration of Heroes

Our hearts swell with pride during our monthly gatherings with our cherished resident veterans and their community friends. June’s Annual Veteran’s Circle BBQ proved to be a delightful event, despite the summer heat. A huge thank you to Rob Whitten for braving the temperatures and grilling delicious food for everyone. The celebration was further enriched by a special visit from our town manager, Lyn Simmons.

Feathered Friends Take Flight: A Visit from the Birds of Prey Rehab

A captivating highlight for our residents was a visit from Tom Ricardi of the Massachusetts Birds of Prey Rehab. Tom’s educational presentation showcased these magnificent feathered creatures, allowing residents to learn about their unique characteristics and behaviors. The opportunity to hold some of the smaller birds brought immense joy and a sense of wonder to all.

Music Therapy: A Symphony of Joy

Music fills the soul, and thanks to the generous donation of instruments by the family of Naomi Schoenberg, our residents can now express themselves through the magic of music-making. Drums, tambourines, maracas, bells, and a variety of instruments create a delightful harmony, especially when played outdoors amidst the flourishing gardens.

As summer unfolds, we look forward to creating more enriching experiences for our residents. JGS Lifecare is committed to fostering a vibrant community where residents can blossom and thrive.
