Ruth’s House Assisted Living Celebrates Spirit Week

Life Feels Like It Has Returned to Normal at Ruth’s House, as a Week of Themed Activities Culminates in Freedom Friday on June 25th, in Anticipation of the July 4th Long Weekend.

JGS Lifecare Spirit Week ScheduleAt Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence, a part of the JGS Lifecare Family of Care Campus, life feels like it has returned to normal.  This past week residents and staff have been celebrating Spirit Week, the brainchild of Andrea Bates, Director of Life Enrichment at Ruth’s House. “With the state of emergency lifted and the relaxed Center for Disease Control guidelines, we are thrilled to resume social group activities to keep our residents and staff socially interactive and engaged in fun activities.  The coming of Independence Day gave me the idea to plan of week of fun activities for our residents and staff, to keep spirits high and everyone engaged.” commented Bates.

Monday featured Crazy Hat Day. Tuesday was Tie Dye Day.  Wednesday featured Baseball Day. Thursday was Fabulous 50’s Day. The week will culminate on Friday with Spirit Day, where residents and staff will all proudly wear their red, white and blue – which the theme will carry over to the July 4th Holiday celebrations.

Residents and staff enjoyed making their own crazy hats as well as their own tie dyed shirts!  Wednesday was batting practice for all and some residents really knocked it out of the park! Thursday’s Fabulous 50’s Day featured a sock hop luncheon, followed by ice cream sodas with some women adorning cute poodle skirts and fountain hats.  In anticipation of the day, Michelle Scalia, a family member at Ruth’s House exclaimed, “Tomorrow is a sock hop! Andrea has a poodle skirt and pink jacket!! THEY ARE HAVING A SOCK HOP!! She (Andrea) is just amazing!”

Residents and staff plan to congregate in the Country Kitchen at 11:00 A.M. to bake a red, white and blue trifle; and the afternoon would not be complete without a Patriotic Scavenger Hunt at 1:45!
