What’s Happening at Leavitt Family Jewish Home!

A highlight of the day is an in-room visit by our rolling snack/beverage cart!

We greatly appreciate the sacrifices made by our Veterans in service to our county. Our residents celebrated Memorial Day enjoying “Patriotic” cupcakes, decorated in red, white and blue sprinkles. On July 29th we are looking forward to resuming our Veteran’s gathering with Veteran’s Services of Longmeadow!

June has brought us wonderful warm weather, aside from a few cold surprises and a heat wave! Our Life Enrichment Team has put together a schedule of outdoor performances and activities. Every Wednesday we have musical entertainment on Michael’s patio outside of the café.

Residents have enjoyed singing along with vocal guitarist Lisa Pernice, and Irving Lewis brings his upbeat energy and enthusiasm, performing Motown hits and Classic Favorites.

Socially distanced Bingo has returned to The Gloth Family Auditorium, and exercise classes, trivia and word games held in each resident neighborhood are signs that we are returning to a sense of “normal.” Residents always enjoy the treats brought to them in their rooms on our rolling snack and beverage cart.

We are also slowly welcoming back our “Caring Friends” volunteers, individuals who dedicate their time to coming in to visit with residents who don’t have family and normally do not get visits.  Our volunteers sit and talk with these residents, building new bonds of friendship. In the good weather they take our residents outdoors to enjoy the fresh air and healing beauty of nature.

We thank our good friend Mike CinqMars for helping beautify our campus by planting flowers in our planters at the entry to the nursing home. Mike, a former family member, has been making our main entry beautiful each year, by donating the flowers and sharing his landscaping talents with us. Thank you Mike!
